- 1Unplug the filter, or the tank's filter pump and any other equipment in the tank, as Aqua One advises.
- 2Open the filter and take out the wool pad.
- 3Rinse sponges gently in a bucket of water taken from the aquarium, never under the tap: Aqua One says tap water kills the filter's beneficial bacteria.
- 4Fit the new wool pad where the old one sat; Aqua One says to replace wool regularly.
- 5Put the media back as it was. Plug the filter back in and check that water flows.
