How long it lasts
Replace it after about 4 weeks of use, EHEIM says: carbon is for short use, such as after starting the tank or a course of medication, then removed or replaced.
How to change the 2628150 aquarium filter media

- 1Pull out the mains plug and close the hose taps before you take the filter away from the aquarium.
- 2Open the clips, lift off the pump head and take out the pads.
- 3Take out the carbon pad and fit a new one: EHEIM says adsorptive media such as carbon should only be used for a short time (about 4 weeks) and then removed or replaced.
- 4Put the pads back in EHEIM's order: blue coarse pads first, then the white fine pad, with the black carbon pad as the top layer. In a newly set-up filter, EHEIM says to remove the carbon pad after about two weeks.
- 5Refit the pump head (check the sealing ring) and close the clips. Make sure the filter is empty of water when you reconnect it, open the suction-side tap and let it prime before you plug it back in.
