It fits between the two barrel unions in the return pipe. Buy it if your housing is cracked, crazed or leaking; if the housing is sound, the electrode-only part 21917 is enough. Clean scale off the plates before deciding a cell is finished.
After the change: No reset needed. After fitting, run the pump, switch the chlorinator on and set the output again; the low-salt or no-flow warning should clear once water is flowing through the new cell.
