  1. 1Empty the drip tray, take out the water filter if one is fitted, and choose Descale in the service or Care menu. VeroCup and Series 2 VeroCafe have no separate descale: hold the calc'nClean button for about 5 seconds, and drop a cleaning tablet into the brewing unit when asked.
  2. 2Pour lukewarm water into the empty tank up to the 0.5 l mark and dissolve one descaling tablet in it. Never put a descaling tablet in the ground coffee drawer or the brewing unit.
  3. 3On the built-ins, put the end of the milk pipe where the display shows. Put a container under the outlet (0.5 l, or about 1 l for calc'nClean) and start. The descaling stage takes about 20 minutes.
  4. 4Rinse the tank, fill it with fresh water to the max mark, refit the filter and let the machine rinse itself for about 2 minutes.
  5. 5Empty the drip tray and wipe the machine with a soft, damp cloth so no descaler is left on it.
