How to change your Philips water filter
Steps for the AquaClean CA6903 Water Filter (CA6903), the filter 9 Philips models take. Change it every 3 months.
- 1Shake the new AquaClean filter for about 5 seconds.
- 2Hold it upside down in a jug of cold water until air bubbles stop rising.
- 3Push the filter down firmly onto its connection in the water tank and fill the tank to MAX.
- 4Follow the on-screen AquaClean activation — the machine rinses for a minute or two and starts counting the filter's life.
Turn off the filter light
Fit the filter, then activate it in the machine menu (on button-panel models hold the AquaClean button about 3 seconds, then press start; the AquaClean light turns blue when active). Activation resets the cup counter and suppresses the descale alarm until the eighth filter.

Common questions
- How often should I change a Philips water filter?
- Every 3 months for the AquaClean CA6903 Water Filter (CA6903), the filter most Philips models here take. Each model page shows the interval for its own filter.
- What happens if I don't change the filter?
- The filter stops softening the water, scale builds in the boiler, and the machine asks to be descaled more often; taste in the cup drops off too.
- Does Philips make a compatible filter?
- Philips makes the genuine filter. Compatible filters for Philips models are made by other companies to the same shape and flow rate, and Australian sellers we track list both; each part page shows the genuine and compatible prices side by side and the certifications we could confirm.
- How do I reset the filter reminder on a Philips coffee machine?
- Fit the filter, then activate it in the machine menu (on button-panel models hold the AquaClean button about 3 seconds, then press start; the AquaClean light turns blue when active). Activation resets the cup counter and suppresses the descale alarm until the eighth filter.
