How to change the 17218-ZS9-A00 pre-filter

- 1Stop the engine and let it cool, with the generator on a flat, level surface.
- 2Open the left side maintenance cover, unsnap the clips and remove the air cleaner cover.
- 3Take the foam element out of the air cleaner cover. Wash it in household detergent and warm water (or a non-flammable solvent), rinse and let it dry; fit a new one if it is damaged.
- 4Soak the foam in clean engine oil and squeeze out the excess; too much oil makes the engine smoke at start-up.
- 5Refit the foam to the air cleaner cover, refit the cover and close and latch the side maintenance cover.
