How to change your Waterco filter cartridge
Steps for the Trimline C50 / C100 cartridge element 62042 (62042), the filter 2 Waterco models take.
No clear video for this filter yet. The steps cover it.
- 1Turn the pump off and close the valves. Open the air bleed screw on the lid to let the pressure out.
- 2Unscrew the lid lock ring and lift the lid off (Opal XL: lift the dome lid by its grip handles).
- 3Lift the cartridge out (Trimline C100 and Opal XL 270: two elements are stacked, with a spacer or joiner between).
- 4Hose the pleats clean, or soak the cartridge overnight in cartridge cleaner. Fit a new one if it has a hole or will not come clean.
- 5Seat the cartridge, check the lid O-ring is in place and screw the lock ring down without over-tightening. Restart and bleed the air.
After fitting the new cartridge
No reset light. Waterco says to clean the cartridge when the gauge reads 50 kPa above the normal operating pressure, and at least every 12 months.
Common questions
- What happens if I don't change the filter?
- A clogged cartridge slows the flow and the pump works harder, and a torn one lets dirt back into the water, so the pool or spa clouds.
- Does Waterco make a compatible cartridge?
- Waterco makes the genuine cartridge. Compatible cartridges for Waterco models are made by other companies to fit the same models, and Australian sellers we track list both; each part page shows the genuine and compatible prices side by side.
- What do I do after changing the cartridge in a Waterco pool filter or spa?
- No reset light. Waterco says to clean the cartridge when the gauge reads 50 kPa above the normal operating pressure, and at least every 12 months.
