How long it lasts

Replace it when it is damaged. Dyson gives no replacement interval and says to wash the filter once a month.

After replacing: Dyson: wash in cold water only, no detergent, squeeze out and leave to dry for at least 24 hours before refitting; a damp filter can damage the motor.

Flow slows and taste drops off as the filter fills up. Changing on time is the whole point.

1Switch the machine off and take it off the charger.
2Pre-filter: lift the cylinder straight out of the top of the cyclone. Post filter: twist the cap at the back of the motor and pull the filter out.
3Fit the new filter the same way round and turn the cap until it locks.
4Wash both filters monthly in cold water, no detergent, and let them dry 24 hours before refitting.
