How to change the carbon filter in your Aqua One AquaLume 27
Watch the guide or follow the steps.
- 1Unplug the filter, or the tank's filter pump and any other equipment in the tank, as Aqua One advises.
- 2Take out the carbon cartridge: remove a hang-on filter's dust cover; lift an internal filter out and pull off its casing; lift the lid and light unit off a built-in filter compartment.
- 3Rinse sponges gently in a bucket of water taken from the aquarium, never under the tap: Aqua One says tap water kills the filter's beneficial bacteria.
- 4Fit a new carbon cartridge every 6–8 weeks. Rinse new carbon first; Aqua One allows tap water for new carbon, never for sponges.
- 5Put the media back as it was; refill a hang-on filter with aquarium water before you switch it on. Plug the filter back in and check that water flows.
