How long it lasts
Replace it when it clogs, breaks down or no longer holds its shape, Aqua One says; until then rinse it in a bucket of aquarium water each time you clean the filter.
How to change the filter media in your Aqua One NanoFlow 220
Watch the guide or follow the steps.
- 1Unplug the filter and any other equipment in the tank, as Aqua One advises and lift it out of the tank.
- 2Pull the filter casing off the motor and take out the sponge, and the carbon cartridge or pouch if your filter has one.
- 3Rinse the sponge gently in a bucket of water taken from the aquarium to flush out solid waste, then throw that water away. Aqua One says never to rinse it under the tap: chlorine kills the filter's bacteria.
- 4Put the sponge back, or fit a new one once the old one blocks up or breaks down.
- 5Put the media back in the casing, refit it to the motor, put the filter back in the tank and plug it in. Check that water flows.
