How long it lasts
Replace it when the air filter is damaged or engine power stays low after cleaning it, STIHL's manuals say; fit the new spark plug after about 100 hours of use, or sooner if its electrodes are badly worn.

How to change the service kit in your STIHL MS 880
Watch the guide or follow the steps.
- 1Stop the engine, engage the chain brake and let the saw cool down.
- 2Open the carburettor box cover on top of the saw: on the MS 880, turn the knob above the rear handle in the direction of the arrow and lift the cover off.
- 3Take out the old air filter and fit the new one from the kit so it seats evenly. STIHL says to use its filters dry: do not oil them.
- 4Pull off the spark plug boot, clean any dirt from around the plug, unscrew it and screw in the new plug from the kit; STIHL gives an electrode gap of 0.5 mm for the MS 880. Press the boot firmly back on.
- 5Use the hook in the kit box to pull the fuel pickup out through the tank filler, swap in the new fuel filter and refit the shroud or cover.
