  1. 1Press POWER to switch the machine off, unplug it and let it cool. Take out the water tank and drip tray.
  2. 2Clean any coffee out of the screw in the middle of the shower screen with a skewer, then turn it anticlockwise to undo it: with the Allen key on the Barista Express Impress, or a flat-head screwdriver on the Barista Touch.
  3. 3Lift out the screw and the old shower screen, noting which side faced down.
  4. 4Fit the new screen the same way round and refit the screw. Turn it 2-3 turns by hand, then tighten it until it sits flush. Don't overtighten it.
  5. 5Refit the drip tray and water tank.
