How to change the Z6-R water filter
Watch the guide or follow the steps.
- 1Turn off the water to the filter and open the filtered tap to let the pressure out.
- 2Take all the wrapping and caps off the new cartridge.
- 3Turn the old cartridge a quarter turn anticlockwise, pull it down out of the head and throw it away.
- 4Push the new cartridge into the head and turn it a quarter turn clockwise until the arrows on the head and cartridge line up (SPARQ: until it stops and the lock labels line up).
- 5Turn the water back on and check for leaks, then run the filtered tap for 5 minutes, or until the water runs clear (SPARQ: ambient button for 2–5 minutes).

Common questions
- What does the Z6-R fit?
- The Puretec Z6-R PureMix Ultra Z quick-twist cartridge (0.1 micron) fits the Puretec PureMix Z6.
- How often should I replace the Z6-R?
- Every 6 months. Flow slows and performance drops off as the filter fills up, so it's worth doing on time.
- Where can I buy the Z6-R in Australia?
- We track 3 Australian sellers for the Z6-R; the lowest listed price when we last checked was A$159.00 at Cass Brothers. Prices are re-checked daily and dated on this page.
- How do I fit the Z6-R?
- No tools, a few minutes: 5 steps, listed on this page with the replacement video where the maker has one.
- What happens if I don't change it?
- The carbon stops reducing chlorine taste and odour and the flow from the tap slows as the cartridge clogs; a boiling-water tap with a scale-reducing filter builds scale in its tank faster.
- Is there anything to reset afterwards?
- No reset light. Write the date on the cartridge.
