- 1Stop the engine and let it cool, with the generator on a flat, level surface.
- 2Open the left maintenance cover by turning its latch anticlockwise, loosen the cover screws and remove the air cleaner cover.
- 3Take the foam air filter out of the cover. Clean it in warm soapy water (or a non-flammable solvent) and let it dry; fit a new one if it is damaged.
- 4Dip it in clean engine oil and squeeze out the excess without twisting it, and wipe dirt from the air cleaner housing with a damp rag.
- 5Refit the filter in the cover, refit the cover and close the left maintenance cover.
