How long it lasts
Replace it every year or 300 hours of use, whichever comes first, Honda's EU32i manual says; check and re-gap it every 6 months or 100 hours. Yamaha's EF1000iS manual says to clean and re-gap it and replace it when needed.
After replacing: No reset needed.
How to change the spark plug in your Yamaha EF1000iS
Watch the guide or follow the steps.
- 1Let the engine cool and open the cover over the spark plug (on the Honda EU32i, the spark plug maintenance cover).
- 2Pull off the spark plug cap, clean dirt from around the plug and remove it with a spark plug wrench.
- 3Check the gap on the new plug: Honda gives 0.6-0.7 mm for the EU32i, Yamaha 0.7-0.8 mm for the EF1000iS.
- 4Screw the plug in by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten it: 12 N·m on the EU32i (a new plug 1/2 turn after it seats), 13 N·m on the EF1000iS.
- 5Refit the spark plug cap and the cover.
