How long it lasts
Replace it when the air filter is damaged or engine power stays low after cleaning it, STIHL's manuals say; fit the new spark plug after about 100 hours of use, or sooner if its electrodes are badly worn.

How to change the service kit in your STIHL FS 38
Watch the guide or follow the steps.
- 1Stop the engine and let it cool, then set the choke lever to the choke position.
- 2Press in the tab on the filter cover, swing the cover down and clean loose dirt from around the filter.
- 3Take out the fleece air filter and fit the new one from the kit, then refit the cover.
- 4Pull off the spark plug boot, unscrew the plug and screw in the new one (gap 0.5 mm, STIHL says). Press the boot firmly home.
- 5Swap the fuel filter using the hook in the kit box.
