How long it lasts
Replace it when the descaling cartridge light tells you to: it flashes 1 to 2 hours before the run time is used up, and then the machine stops making steam. The run time depends on the water hardness you set.
After replacing: SC 3 EasyFix, SC 3 EasyFix Go!Further and SC 3 Upright: switch on and hold the RESET button for 4 seconds until the "replace decalcification cartridge" light goes out. SC 3 Deluxe: hold the maximum and reduced steam buttons together until that light goes out. SC 2 Upright: hold the steam lever, plug in and keep holding for 7 seconds; the light flashes green twice.
How to change the 2.863-018.0 anti-scale cartridge

- 1Switch the steamer off (SC 2 Upright: pull out the plug). On the Upright models, take the water tank out and remove its cover; on the SC 3 EasyFix, Deluxe and Go!Further the cartridge sits in the tank filling opening.
- 2Pull out the used cartridge. Never refit a used one.
- 3Push the new cartridge firmly into place.
- 4Reset the timer. SC 3 EasyFix, Go!Further and SC 3 Upright: switch on and hold RESET for 4 seconds. SC 3 Deluxe: hold the maximum and reduced steam buttons together until the cartridge light goes out. SC 2 Upright: hold the steam lever while you plug in and keep it held for 7 seconds.
- 5Let it heat up, then hold the steam lever for about 30 seconds (SC 2 Upright: about 50) to vent the new cartridge.
