How long it lasts

Replace it when it is cracked or damaged or no longer seals; AEG says to clean the drain pump filter twice a year, and when the machine does not drain or shows a drain alarm.

After replacing: No reset needed. If the machine showed a drain alarm, clear the blockage, refit the filter and start a new programme.

1Switch off and unplug the machine, and wait until the water inside has cooled. Never remove the filter while the machine is running.
2Open the pump cover at the bottom front, put a shallow bowl under it and keep a towel nearby.
3Loosen the filter anticlockwise a little and let the water run out; tighten it to empty the bowl and repeat until no more water comes out.
4Unscrew the filter anticlockwise, remove fluff and objects, and check the pump impeller can turn.
5Rinse the filter under the tap, screw it back in clockwise until it is tight so it does not leak, and close the cover.
