How long it lasts

Replace it when engine power drops noticeably and the filter is dirty or damaged, STIHL says (its paper filters last more than a year on average); fit the new spark plug after about 100 hours of use.

After replacing: No reset needed.

  1. 1Stop the engine and let it cool. Turn the choke knob to the closed position so no dirt gets into the intake.

  3. 3Take out the paper air filter and fit the new one from the kit, then refit the cover.
  4. 4Take off the spark plug cover, pull off the boot, unscrew the plug and screw in the new one (gap 0.5 mm, STIHL says). Press the boot firmly home.
  5. 5Swap the fuel filter using the hook in the kit box.
