How to change your Smeg water filter
Steps for the 1ECWF01 water filter for coffee machines (1ECWF01), the water filter 8 Smeg models take.
- 1Take the water tank off the machine and empty it.
- 2Fit the 1ECWF01 filter in the tank as the leaflet that comes with the filter shows, then fill the tank with fresh water and refit it.
- 3BCC12: set the water hardness to 'Light' (hold keys 22 and 26 together for at least 3 seconds to save the setting). Other machines: set the softest hardness level as the booklet says.
- 4Take the filter out of the tank before every descaling cycle and refit it afterwards.
Common questions
- What happens if I don't change the water filter?
- The filter stops softening the water, scale builds in the boiler, and the machine asks to be descaled more often; taste in the cup drops off too.
