How to change the blade in your Toro mower
Steps for the 22 in. (56 cm) Recycler blade 131-4547-03 (131-4547-03), the blade 2 Toro models take. Change it every 12 months.
- 1Shut off the engine, wait for all moving parts to stop and disconnect the spark-plug wire. Wear gloves: the blade is sharp.
- 2Let the fuel tank run dry first (or remove the fuel with a hand pump), then tip the mower onto its side with the air filter up and the dipstick down.
- 3Hold the blade steady with a block of wood and remove the blade, keeping all the mounting hardware.
- 4Fit the new blade and all the hardware, with the curved ends of the blade pointing toward the mower housing.
- 5Tighten the blade bolt to 82 N·m (60 ft-lb) with a torque wrench, then reconnect the spark-plug wire. Toro says to see a service dealer if you don't have a torque wrench.
