How often to descale
Descale every 3 months or 300 capsules, whichever comes first, or when the machine shows its descaling alert.
After descaling: The descaling alert clears once the descale and rinse cycles finish. On Vertuo Next, Pop and Pop+ the cycle cannot be stopped; if the machine is unplugged it restarts in descale mode and both cycles must run again. Creatista and Lattissima models lock after a set number of drinks if the alert is ignored.
How to descale your Nespresso CitiZ
Watch the guide or follow the steps.
- 1Remove the capsule and close the lever, then empty the drip tray and used capsule container.
- 2Pour one bottle of descaler and 500 ml of water into the water tank. Put a container that holds at least 1 litre under the coffee outlet.
- 3With the machine on, hold Espresso and Lungo together for 3 seconds until both lights blink. Press Lungo and wait until the tank is empty.
- 4Pour the collected solution back into the tank, put the container back under the outlet and press Lungo again.
- 5Empty and rinse the tank, fill it with fresh water and press Lungo to rinse. Rinse twice, refilling the tank with fresh water each time.
- 6Hold Espresso and Lungo together for 3 seconds to leave descaling mode. The machine is then ready to use.
