How often to descale

Descale every 3 months or 300 capsules, whichever comes first, or when the machine shows its descaling alert.

After descaling: The descaling alert clears once the descale and rinse cycles finish. On Vertuo Next, Pop and Pop+ the cycle cannot be stopped; if the machine is unplugged it restarts in descale mode and both cycles must run again. Creatista and Lattissima models lock after a set number of drinks if the alert is ignored.

  3. 3Switch the machine on and wait for a steady light. Hold both coffee buttons together for 3 seconds until they blink, then press Lungo and wait until the tank is empty.
  4. 4Pour the collected solution back into the tank and press Lungo again.
  5. 5Empty and rinse the tank, fill it with fresh water and press Lungo to rinse the machine.
  6. 6Press both buttons together for 1 second to leave descaling mode. The machine is then ready to use.
